San Francisco - Echotone film premiere at Noise Pop 2010

San Francisco Chapter's picture

The Noise Pop Music Festival is bringing the musical magic and mayhem to San Francisco once again! Now in its 18th year, this festival continues to grow and improve annually. One of the areas within the festival that has rapidly expanded is the film-festival. We caught up with a great new film from Austin, Texas called Echotone, which expertly captures the tensions and inspiration that are the independent musician. While the film is rooted in the Austin music scene, with amazing footage of the SXSW festival and an exploration of that city’s rapid economic development, its themes are more universal. Questions about what happens to a music scene and the artists who comprise it when the host city is undergoing a massive growth spurt that may or may not have factored music into the equation are issues that San Franciscans, Seattle-ites and many others can relate with all too well. We had the great thrill to watch the film and to engage with the producers, director and several of the fantastic musicians who are featured in the film including stand-out groups Belaire and Sunset.
