Nashville - GRAMMY Camp SoundCheck With The Civil Wars
Thursday, January 12, 2012 – A group of 50 college students participated in a GRAMMY Camp – SoundCheck with GRAMMY nominated duo The Civil Wars at the historic The Ryman Auditorium. This event provided Nashville GRAMMY U students with the unique opportunity to see into the lives of Joy Williams and John Paul White.
The event began with an open question and answer session where The Civil Wars discussed their success in the music industry. Students were able to ask a series of questions pertaining to the professional and artistic lives of Joy and John Paul. The questions from students spanned their careers highlighting and congratulating them on their success. Joy and John Paul explained the meaning behind their hit song “Poison and Wine” saying, “It is everything you want to say in a relationship but know that you never will.”
Directly after the question and answer session The Civil Wars took to the stage to perform their SoundCheck. The Ryman Auditorium was the perfect setting for the talented duo as Joy expressed her excitement to perform in such a historic building. The Civil Wars preformed four songs off of their GRAMMY nominated album Barton Hollow while everyone in attendance was in awe of their talent. The evening ended as doors for the concert opened to the public and GRAMMY U students left with open minds and a heightened passion for music.
