On February 13, 2012 the Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy® came together to celebrate Music’s Biggest Night™ at the Hard Rock Café on historic Beale Street in the heart of downtown Memphis. Doors opened at 6pm to the Recording Academy members waiting with anticipation to watch the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards Telecast. Local artist Chris Milam performed as members trickled in.

During the event members enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and plenty of Red Bull beverages to keep their energy up throughout the night. During commercial breaks Red Bull’s DJ Crumbz played a repertoire of GRAMMY nominated artists as well as some Memphis classics. Giveaways included official 54th GRAMMY Awards merchandise, and CDs.  Guests waited around for the largest prize of the night- a Ukelele courtesy of Kamoa Ukeleles! The audience roared and danced as they enjoyed the many performances on the show. GRAMMY U members from Visible School, the University of Memphis, and Delta State especially enjoyed the performance by Jennifer Hudson as a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

Special thanks to our sponsors the Hard Rock Café, Red Bull, Pepsi, and Holliday’s Flowers for helping us provide a little taste of the glamour of the GRAMMY Awards right here in Memphis.
