GRAMMY Camp SoundCheck with The Avett Brothers

On Saturday, April 14, thirty-one students from the Mid South region gathered in the Bancorp South Arena in Tupelo, MS. Many students joined us as new members for their first ever GRAMMY Camp SoundCheck. The Avett Brothers greeted the students and began their sound check. The band played a variety of songs from “The Lowering” to the fan favorite “The Traveling Song.” During the question and answer session, the Avett Brothers talked about everything from their print making hobbies to their songwriting technique. Many students had questions about their major label signing and if it changed them at all. Seth Avett replied, “we were fortunate enough to be established before we signed…we feel that we were really welcomed.” When asked what was the best advice they could give a new artist, each band member agreed that the music should always come first in everything students do. Scott Avett explained, “if art is the first in everything you do then everything else will fall into place.” Students gathered after the Q&A session to greet and mingle with the gracious band.
